The third of three flashes of mine to be published by the formidable Sick Lit Magazine is my story ‘I am Lasagne’. It’s a somewhat sassy, in-your-face piece which went down very well when I read it at the Bath Flash Fiction Award Event in July. If you’d like to read it, head on over to Sick Lit Magazine to read it now: I am Lasagne. I hope you enjoy!
I’d like to take the opportunity to thank Kelly Fitzharris Coody and Melissa Libbey for accepting my pieces and for selecting my suggested theme of Perceptions. I’ve really enjoyed reading everyones interpretation of the theme, and I can’t wait to read more!
The second of three pieces to be published by Sick Lit Magazine this month is now available to read online. It is called ‘The Domesticated Creature’ and I’m so happy it has found its home at Sick Lit Magazine. I’d written this flash fiction a few years ago, one of my first ever ones actually, and you can read it by following this link here: ‘The Domesticated Creature’. You’ll like this one if you like cats!
If you haven’t heard of Sick Lit Magazine, you’re missing out. They’re a great online magazine who publish powerful poetry and prose. They ran a competition this year to decide on themes for their upcoming issues and my theme of “Perceptions” was chosen, meaning throughout all of August you’ll be able to read work selected by the amazing editors Kelly and Melissa around this theme!
I love the idea of perceptions, which is the major thread throughout my forthcoming collection Dots, and other flashes of perception, which you can read more about here: Dots.
I like the way different people interact with their version of the world and the universe. Everyone’s view of the world is different, and they way we relate to it and to each other is something I love to explore. I’m excited to read the writing published this month as a part of the theme. I can’t wait to fall into the perceptions of others.
This also means I have some upcoming publications with Sick Lit Magazine. The first is now available to read now and is called ‘My Fate Lies in the Weather Forecast’ and can be read by following this link here to Sick Lit Magazine. It’s about a man who wears shorts and flip-flops in the rain; you know the kind of guy I’m talking about! The other two stories, ‘The Domesticated Creature’ and ‘I am Lasagne’ will be published later in the month, and I shall post again once they’ve been published.
I hope you enjoy a month of different perceptions showcased by Sick Lit Magazine — I know I will!
My flash fiction called ‘Cacophony’ has been accepted for publication by Story Shack and will be published in January 2017.
I think everyone should consider sending flash fiction to Story Shack; not only do they publish great flash fiction, but they also illustrate them. It’s why I submitted ‘Cacophony’ to them, because I felt this flash in particular had some strong visual elements that would look great illustrated.
I’m looking forward to being able to share ‘Cacophony’ with you all. For more details about Story Shack, check out their website here: Story Shack.
